The organism is composed of a single, single cell with many flagella. Is it a prokaryote like a bacterium? It’s larger than a prokaryotic cell and also contains the nucleus. Therefore, this organism is a part of the domain of Eukarya, which includes humans. The eukaryote in question is one of the smallest and simplest organisms within the domain. It is also known as a protist. Their scientific title is Giardia lamblia. As a human parasite, it may cause illness in us.

Protists are all eukaryotes which are not animals, fungi or plants. Therefore, Protists are a wildly diverse set of organisms. The eukaryotes in the kingdom of Kingdom Protista do not have a lot in common aside from a rather simple structure. Protists may appear very distinct from one another. Some are tiny and unicellular similar to an amoeba. Others are massive and multicellular similar to seaweed. Multicellular protists are not specialized organs or tissues.
The simple organization of cells makes protists distinct from other eukaryotes like fungi, animals and even plants. There is a possibility of between 60 and 200 million protists, and most are not yet identified. Protists are found in nearly every environment that contains liquid water. A lot of protists, like algae, are photosynthesis. They are the primary producers of ecosystems. Protists also contribute too many grave human illnesses, including sleep sickness and malaria.

Protista is a term that was first coined in 1866 by Ernst Haeckel. Protists were usually classified in one of the various groups based on their resemblance to animals, plants or fungus. These include protozoa with animal-like characteristics, Rhodophyta that resembles plants (mostly algae) and slime moulds resembling fungi, as well as water moulds. These old classification of kingdom protista were primarily dependent on non-scientific traits and have been replaced with classifications built on phylogenetics (evolutionary relationships between organisms). However, the earlier words are still being used as informal terms to refer to the general characteristics of different protists.
